Summer Teams (korte termijn)

Edinburgh Dates: June 28th - July 13th inclusive Cost: £60 (includes accommodation and most food) Location: Edinburgh, Scotland This summer, many international students will be coming to Edinburgh to study English and to learn more about UK culture. As Christians we have a God-given opportunity to share the Good News of Christ with the nations if we choose to become involved in this amazing work as God brings the world to our doorstep. What we do
Cross-cultural training and Bible study each morning is followed by the opportunity to put this into practice during afternoon activities with students and an international cafe run each evening. The training includes seminars on world religions, skills focussed sessions on sharing our faith, and cross cultural communication. In the cafe we provide entertainment each evening, including Scottish dancing and culture evenings, live music, food nights, as well as drama and optional Bible-based discussion. At weekends we are involved with local churches in putting on evangelistic services. It's a challenging and stretching experience, but also very rewarding and may change your life! Expectation of team members:
- we have an application process: forms are downloadable from www.friendsinternational.org.uk/EIO
- they must be able to come for whole fortnight
- we require a willingness to learn, try new things, share their faith experience with others
- reasonable level of English (many international students come to the cafe to practice English)

What we doThis year we have a special one since we are going to be in Zaragoza where the World Exhibition takes place. There will be millions of people and we want to make use of the time there. We are going to reach out to the thousands of international and Spanish people who are going to visit the Expo in Zaragoza. The Expo runs from mid June to mid September and they expect around 7 million visitors during those three months. We have been invited by the churches to be there with our summer team this year. There will be evangelistic outreaches going on all over the city. The programme will include questionnaires, possibly mime, a concert, an art exhibition, a Ginkana, other types of creative evangelism in the streets, apologetic talks and evangelistic Bible Studies. Primarily we will be in the old city centre of Zaragoza. The team, which is of mixed nationality, will be trained in cross-cultural evangelism. We will have two different tracks of training, a second one for the ones who have been to our summer teams in the past years. Some knowledge of the Spanish language is highly recommended. Expectation of team members: - We expect the students come with an attitude to serve the people in Zaragoza and the other students on team.
- We expect them to make an effort to integrate well into the team and be open to the people we will get in contact with. We work closely together with the churches in Zaragoza, too.
- Some knowledge of the Spanish language is highly recommended.
- We expect them to attend all sessions and activities during the mission.
